Country Music Charts, Week Ending 11/3/07

by

carriealbum.jpgWell, there wasn’t much movement on the country music singles charts this week with Kenny Chesney holding strong at number one with Dierks Bentley close behind in second place. Really, there wasn’t much movement up or down besides the debuts of the Grand Ole Opry’s newest member Josh Turner with “Firecracker” and Taylor Swift entering the top ten with “Our Song”.

The country music album charts, on the other hand, ended up quite interesting. Really, it was no surprise that Carrie Underwood’s “Carnival Ride” blew away the competition with over 575,000 units sold clinching the top spot with ease. Where it gets interesting is the second and third positions. The unconventional duo of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss took the second spot with their new collaboration “Raising Sand” and Gary Allan debuted his brand new album “Livin’ Hard” in third place. That means Rascal Flatts fell all the way to the fourth position this week. Not only did Carrie Underwood, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, and Gary Allan top the country music album charts, the three also topped the Billboard Hot 200 which compiles sales across all genres of music. This was certainly unexpected, but definitely deserved, so congratulations to all of those great artists on their achievements.
