New Country Music Releases 12/25/07

Friday, December 28th, 2007

dolly.jpgSorry this list is so late for you this week, but the new releases would have been scheduled to hit stores on Christmas when no one was open anyway, so it’s better late than never, right? There are more CDs on this week’s new country music releases list than there have been the past few weeks, so that’s promising.

However, it’s kind of deceiving to label these as “new releases” since none of them are really all that “new”. The albums being released this week are actually re-releases of albums from some of country music’s legendary artists. There are great CDs from Johnny Cash, George Jones, Joe Diffie, Patty Loveless, and Ricky Skaggs. There is also a classic duet album from Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner. There is also a Porter Wagoner solo album that was re-released this week.

Hopefully we’ll pick up with some brand new releases in the new year. I heard recently on the radio that Tim McGraw’s newest album will be released sometime early in 2008, so at least we have that to look forward to. Until then, have a great rest of 2007 and a wonderful beginning to 2008!

New Country Music Releases 12/18/07

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Karaokesign.jpgSigh. It is yet another week of no new country music album releases. That’s right. There are zero country music artists releasing new albums this week. You would think someone would have taken advantage of all of those last minute Christmas shoppers and released a nice stocking stuffer, but it just didn’t happen this year. If you got someone on your list a Karaoke machine, perhaps this week isn’t a total wash for you, however. There is a new karaoke country music disk out this week. It’s the country music hits of 2007, and it is volume 2, so you can also pick up the first one and have a complete set to wrap up.

There are also a couple new compilation CDs out this week. One is just called “Pure Country” and could probably be just about anything, but could possibly be a new version of the movie soundtrack. The other new release is of American Cowboy Songs.

Hopefully the new releases will pick up after the holidays and we’ll get some great new country music to listen to as we ring in 2008. Who are you most excited to hear from in the new year? Is your favorite artist gearing up to release a new album? Let me know who you just can’t wait to release some new music in the comments section below.

New Country Music Releases 12/11/07

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

leannalbum.jpgJust when you thought the country music new releases couldn’t get any more sparse, this week comes along and there are only 3 new releases! I’d even venture to say there is really on 2 new releases because the Leann Rimes album was already released and this time it was just on a different label. So even though it’s all the same music, it’s considered a new release and makes the list this week. It’s probably a good idea to put it on the list because without it, the only music on the list would be a duets album by Jesse Dayton and a compilation of Swamp music by various artists.

Your best bet this week is to check out this week’s country music album charts and see what you don’t have yet. Perhaps you can get yourself some Christmas music by your favorite country artists and put yourself in the mood for sleigh rides, present opening, snowball fights, getting warm by the fire with some hot cocoa, and spending time with your family and friends.

Whatever you decide, stay warm (we’re in the middle of a freezing rain storm here) and check out the archives for some country music stories you may have missed! If you do want to see the three “new” releases this week, compiled from Billboard.com, keep reading after the jump.

New Country Music Releases 12/4/07

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

adkinsalbum.jpgThe theme of this week’s new country music releases is Karaoke and Greatest Hits. Once again, there really isn’t much “new” music to choose from, but there are a few albums worth noting and maybe adding to your Christmas list. This would definitely be a good year to ask Santa for Karaoke machine. While you’re at it, add a few of the new Karaoke albums to that list. You can sing the tunes of Hank Williams Jr. or Tammy Wynette. If those are your style, there is also a couple of “country hits” Karaoke CDs to choose from.

If you aren’t all about singing yourself, you can sing along to some other new releases. Trace Adkins not only has out his new book and will be a contestant on “Celebrity Apprentice”, he’s also got a second volume of his Greatest Hits on the shelves this week. Shania Twain’s greatest hits is also hitting the stores this week. Don’t forget to pick up the Wreckers’ new live CD while you’re out shopping, too!

Country Music New Releases 11/27/07

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

cash.jpgWow, what a slow week for new country music releases. You would think with the holiday shopping season in full swing, there would be more to choose from. There really aren’t any country music superstars releasing new albums this week, and not even a single Christmas album to speak of this week. There is, however, a Conway Twitty compilation, as well as one of Johnny Cash love songs. LeAnn Rimes does release a new CD single this week, if you are a fan.

The only other CDs to hit the shelves this weeks are a bunch of songs put together from various artists. Perhaps my favorite title in the list is “I’ll Just Sit Here and Drink”. For all of you Bluegrass fans out there, there is an “Ultimate Collection” CD out of Bluegrass songs.

So let’s take this week to chat a little bit about what country music CD you are looking forward to finding in your stocking this year. Do you have your eye on a recent release, or maybe an album that’s been holding strong at the top of the charts? Let me know which albums you want for Christmas (or whichever holiday you celebrate) and why in the comments section below.

urbanalbum.jpgAttention Keith Urban fans! His Greatest Hits CD hits the shelves this week. Also out just in time for the holidays, for that super Keith Urban fan on your shopping list, is a special edition of that Greatest Hits CD. You’re also in luck if you have an Ian Tyson fan on your list because there are several new CDs of his music to choose from. Perhaps Karaoke is more the style of your loved ones. No problem! There are new Karaoke CDs out this week full of some of the best country songs from several different decades.

trishaalbum.jpgThis week you Johnny Cash fans should be more than satisfied with the new country music releases. There are all sorts of Johnny Cash compilations including some Christmas music and also the music from his episode of VH1 Storytellers.

Hot on the heels of her husband’s Ultimate Hits album, Trisha Yearwood has a new release this week as well with “Heaven, Heartache, and the Power of Love”. There is lots of music from John Anderson this week, some Super Hits by Montgomery Gentry and Kenny Chesney, and 22 More Hits from the always great George Strait.

Country Music New Releases 11/6/07

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

garthalbum.jpgIf you are a John Anderson fan, it is definitely a good week for you in the terms of country music new releases. He has no less than 5 new offerings this week on the new releases list. Of course, the much anticipated Garth Brooks “Ultimate Hits” album also hit shelves today as does Little Big Town’s new CD “A Place to Land”.

Let’s not forget all the Christmas country music albums coming out today. I guess since Halloween is now over that it is the Christmas season has unfortunately somewhat officially begun. So of course, country music artists are jumping on the bandwagon and releasing their holiday music before the shopping rush hits the stores. This week, Lee Greenwood and former Lonestar front man Richie McDonald released their Christmas CDs.

New Country Music Releases 10/30/07

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

turneralbum.jpgI absolutely love Phil Vassar and his new single “Prayer of a Common Man” hits stores today. I saw him in concert last December with Little Big Town and Trent Tomlinson and was blown away for the quality of his vocals, instrumentals, and showmanship. How can you not love a guy who is singing and playing piano one second, then running around the stage and jumping up on top of his piano the next? Another album that should be a good one is Josh Turner’s latest offering “Everything is Fine”. His lead off single “Firecracker” has been getting a lot of airplay and should help the disk have a good first week. I know I’m always singing along to it when I hear it on my radio.

New Country Music Releases 10/23/07

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

carriealbum.jpgThe long awaited arrival of Carrie Underwood’s sophomore album “Carnival Ride” has finally come. Carrie’s album is expected to do well on both the pop and country album charts, and should knock Rascal Flatts out of the top spot next week. Powered by her new hit single “So Small”, it should stay at the top of the charts over the next few weeks. Shooter Jennings has a new album out this week, and so does Ty Herndon’s Christmas CD.

There are also a lot of tribute albums dropping this week including a Bluegrass Gospel tribute to Josh Turner, a Celtic tribute to Alison Krauss, and a whole album of a tribute to our good friends Brooks & Dunn (which reminds me to mention the Country Music Herald Brooks & Dunn Giveaway, so go check it out if you haven’t entered yet).

New Country Music Releases 10/9/07

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

evansalbum.jpgIt looks to be a week for the ladies of country as LeAnn Rimes, Sara Evans, and Deana Carter all drop new albums this week. As if Rascal Flatts doesn’t have enough Albums in the Top 10 right now, they are releasing a “Best of Ballads” disc this week. There also seems to be even more Christmas music hitting the shelves this week with discs from Diamond Rio and Vassar Clemens. Some veteran artists are also releasing albums this week including Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels, and Kenny Rogers, along with live albums featuring Mel Tillis and Lee Greenwood. Finally, if you’re a T. Tex Edwards fan, this week’s releases are for you with not one, but two new albums.
