New Country Music Releases 4/8/08
Tuesday, April 8th, 2008
This week in the new releases of country music, hot newcomer and Musik Mafia member James Otto drops his debut album. His single, “Just Got Started Loving You” is sitting steady in the top ten of the country music singles charts and should help his album get a good jump onto the country music album charts as well.
Beyond that, there isn’t a whole lot of new music this week. Tim McGraw and Leann Rimes both have CD singles of some of their songs out this week, and Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson have new compilations hitting the shelves. Let’s not forget Marie Osmond, who is still trying to capitalize off of her “Dancing with the Stars” stint and is releasing a sort of greatest hits collection entitled “Dancing with the Best of Marie Osmond”. Let’s hope that works out for her better than her dancing did!
To see all of the new releases this week, keep reading after the jump.

When oh when are we going to get some great new music on the country music scene? There certainly isn’t any this week!
This week, it looks like Johnny Cash is the hardest working man in Nashville - even though he’s no longer living. There are a few of his collections hitting shelves today. Dolly Parton also has a few new compilations out, and Kenny Rogers and Waylon Jennings also have hits collections debuting this week. There are some bluegrass albums from Lost Highway and Ricky Skaggs this week, too. I’m starting to hear rumblings of big artists releasing albums in April and May, so let’s keep on plugging until those get dropped.
Well, ever since Alan Jackson released his album, it’s been pretty slow on the new country music releases front. This week, you can listen to country love songs or country rock, or you can get yet another Johnny Cash compilation. There is also an instrumental tribute to the Eagles out this week.
Thank you, Mr. Alan Jackson. You, sir, have saved me this week in regards to new country music releases being actually, well, new, and not just rehashed hits from yesteryear. I, of course, knew I’d have a new Alan Jackson CD “Good Time” to mention today because I just couldn’t escape all the press it has been getting for the last week or so. It seemed like every time I turned on the radio a DJ would be talking about the album, or I’d hear an interview with Alan on a countdown show. Let’s not forget all of the hype on the country music television stations as well with old and new performances, interviews, and videos. It shouldn’t take long for his new CD to reach number one on the charts since it’s really the only new thing out there right now and it is Alan Jackson after all.
Compilations, compilations, and more compilations! That’s mostly what’s new this week. There are some greatest hits compilations, some love song compilations, gospel compilations, outlaw compilations, concert compilations, and even DVD compilations. It’s simply insane! I guess the good news is that there are no new Karaoke releases this week.
Well, we’ve got lots of re-releases and compilations yet again hitting the shelves in stores this week. However, there is one silver lining in this overcast sky. It looks like Chris Cagle’s new album is now available. Hooray! I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for even more great new music from all of those amazing country music artists who haven’t released anything in a long time. New albums should be flowing soon so the summer tours can support the new music. Stay tuned to find out, and click after the jump to see what’s new this week.
Sigh. Just when I think we’re going to be really rolling on the country music new releases, we get another bummer of a week. Chuck Wicks really got my hopes up that we’d be seeing even more great country music hitting the shelves every week now, but no such luck.
Well, country music fans, let’s check out what is new and available this week on the shelves of the music stores. There isn’t much new again that really caught my attention, to be honest. There are some greatest hits collections from Terri Clark (what happened to her anyway?) and also SheDaisy. You can check out Country Style Season Volumes 1, 2, 3, and 4 and perhaps the most eye catching title in the list “I’m Nuts”. That about sums up my day!
Great news, country music fans! We have some actual brand new country music albums hitting shelves for the first time this week. It’s been a long drought without some new music, but hopefully this is a trend in the positive direction. Of course, there are the usual
This week, we’re still not getting any “new” music released as far as new songs, but we’ve got quite a few collections hitting the shelves this week from some country music legends. If you want love songs, Kenny Rogers and Trisha Yearwood both have new compilations this week to fill the bill. Anne Murray has some duets and Juice Newton, Willie Nelson, and Dolly Parton all have hits collections that are being released this week. Maybe you want some tributes to some newer artists, well you can pick CDs up of tributes to Carrie Underwood and even
Well, at least there is something
Well, it may be a new year, but there sure aren’t many new CDs to choose from this week in the country music world. I understand the idea behind not releasing anything at this time of year. I’m sure most country music superstars don’t want to spend their holidays away from their loved ones plugging a new album, doing the media rounds on talk shows, radio shows, and various other outlets, or to have to tour in support of a new album over these holidays. However, what about us fans?
