Saturday Song Lyrics (Montgomery Gentry)

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

mgalbum.jpgIt’s Christmas weekend, and so some festive holiday music and lyrics are definitely in order. Of course, nothing says Christmas like Montgomery Gentry’s “Merry Christmas from the Family”. It’s a silly song, but I’ll bet there is some part of the song that hits home for most people. So, have a great Christmas, and have one for me!

Merry Christmas from the Family by Montgomery Gentry

Mom got drunk and Dad got drunk
At our Christmas party
We were drinkin’ champagne punch
And homemade eggnog
Little sister brought her new boyfriend
He was a Mexican
We didn’t know what to think of him
Til he sang Feliz Navidad
Feliz Navidad

Brother Ken brought his kids with him
The three from his first wife Lynn
And the two identical twins
From his second wife Mary Nell
Of course he brought his new wife Kaye
Who talks all about AA
Chain smokin’ while the stereo plays
Noel, Noel, The first Noel

Carve the turkey turn the ball game on
Mix Margaritas when the eggnog’s gone
Send somebody to the Quik-Pak store
We need some ice and an extension cord
A can of bean dip and some Diet Rite
A box of pampers , some Marlboro Lights
Hallelujah everybody say cheese
Merry Christmas from the family

Fran and Rita drove from Harlingen
I can’t remember how I’m kin to them
But when they tried to plug their motor home in
They blew our christmas lights
Cousin David knew just what went wrong
So we all waited out on our front lawn
He threw the breaker and the lights came on
And we sang Silent Night
Oh Silent Night o’ holy night

Carve the turkey turn the ballgame on
Mix Bloody Marys cause we all want one
Send somebody to the Stop ‘n Go
We need some celery and a can of fake snow
A bag of lemons and some Diet Sprite
A box of midol, some Salem Lights
Hallelujah everybody say cheese
Merry Christmas from the family

Saturday Song Lyrics (Sarah Buxton)

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

buxtoncma.jpgYou may not know who Sarah Buxton is, but you’ve certainly heard her songs! She co-wrote Keith Urban’s hit “Stupid Boy” and I actually like her version of it better than his. Anyway, one of the singles she released herself pretty much describes my life most of the time, so it’s this weekend’s Song Lyrics. I’m sure all of us have had “That Kind of Day” at some point, right? Enjoy!

That Kind of Day by Sarah Buxton

Stayed out about two hours too late,
And now it’s hard gettin’ out of this bed.
Man, my boyfriend was a pain in the butt last night,
Now he’s an ache in my head.
Stubbed my toe on the dresser and I guess,
It’s too late to shower and do my hair.

Yeah, throw a ball cap on;
Hell, half the day is gone.
And nothin’ else could go wrong, whoa, oh.
Fifity bucks is all I got:
When times are tough, it’s time to shop,
And my credit card’ll buy a lot, whoa, oh.
What’s another bill to pay?
It’s that kind of day.
Hey, hey, hey, yeah.

Got twenty-six messages on my voicemail,
And I’ve only called my best friend back.
And I told her: “When it comes to my life these days,
“I’m somewhere between a cry and a laugh.”
She said my Mom just called her,
And said I look like I’ve gained five pounds.

Ho, oh, slip into my fat jeans.
Overdose on mint ice-cream.
Treat the day just like a dream, whoa, oh.
Hope I see someone I know,
And I’ll smile an’ put on a show,
Say I got somewhere to go, whoa, oh.
Everyone’s got something to say:
It’s that kind of day.
Hey, hey, hey, yeah.
Hey, hey, hey, whoo.

Standin’ still on the interstate,
And I swear some old lady,
Just flipped me the bird.
Did she just flip me the bird?

Ha ha, it’s gotta go up from here.
Today is gonna disappear,
And nothing’s gonna interfere, whoa, oh.
Gonna buy myself some flowers,
And then spend a couple of hours,
Talkin’ to my Higher Power, whoa, oh.
Ask Him why life’s this way.
Yeah, I’m gonna ask Him why my life’s this way,
There’s just no tellin’ what He’s gonna say.
Oh, it’s just that kind of day.

Hey, hey, hey, yeah.
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah-a.
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah-a.
Yah, oh yeah, yay.

Saturday Song Lyrics (Blake Shelton)

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

sheltonalbum.jpgBrrr! It’s cold here and it’s STILL snowing. I don’t know about you, but I sure could use some sun and sand, even if it is just through some song lyrics. I picked “Some Beach” by Blake Shelton because it’s a great tune and how can I deny a guy who puts my favorite NASCAR driver in his videos? So, please enjoy these lyrics and have a Margarita for me!

Some Beach by Blake Shelton

Driving down the interstate
Running thirty minutes late
Singin’ Margaritaville and minding my own
Some foreign car drivin’ dude with the road rage attitude
Pulled up beside me talkin’ on his cell phone
He started yelling at me like I did something wrong
He flipped me the bird an’ then he was gone

Some beach
Somewhere
There’s a big umbrella casting shade over an empty chair
Palm trees are growin’ and a warm breezes blowin’
I picture myself right there
On Some beach, somewhere

I circled the parkin’ lot, tryin’ to find a spot
Just big enough I could park my old truck
A man with a big cigar was getting into his car
I stopped and I waited for him to back up
From out of no where a Mercedes Benz
Came cruisin’ up and whipped right in

Some beach
Somewhere
There’s nowhere to go and you got all day to get there
There’s cold margaritas and hot Senoritas smiling with long dark hair
On some beach
Somewhere

I sit in that waiting room
It seemed like all afternoon
The nurse finally said doc’s ready for you
You’re not gonna feel a thing we’ll give you some novicane
That tooth will be fine in a minute or two
But he stuck that needle down deep in my gum
And he started drillin’ before I was numb

Some beach
Somewhere
There’s a beautiful sunset burning up the atmosphere
There’s music and dancing and lovers romancing
In the salty evening air
On some beach
Somewhere
On some beach, somewhere

Saturday Song Lyrics (Sugarland)

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

sugarland.jpgThis week’s Saturday Song Lyrics come from the CMA’s Best Duo Sugarland. Their performance of their latest single “Stay” was superb on the CMA broadcast. The sad and wanting lyrics are delivered perfectly by Jennifer Nettles and the stripped down feel of just the acoustic guitar accompaniment make it an even more haunting tune. So, for your enjoyment, here are the lyrics to “Stay” by Sugarland.

Stay by Sugarland

I’ve been sitting here staring at the clock on the wall
And I’ve been laying here praying, praying she won’t call
It’s just another call from home
And you’ll get it and be gone
And I’ll be crying

And I’ll be begging you, baby
Beg you not to leave
But I’ll be left here waiting
With my Heart on my sleeve
Oh, for the next time we’ll be here
Seems like a million years
And I think I’m dying

What do I have to do to make you see
She can’t love you like me?

Why don’t you stay
I’m down on my knees
I’m so tired of being lonely
Don’t I give you what you need
When she calls you to go
There is one thing you should know
We don’t have to live this way
Baby, why don’t you stay

You keep telling me, baby
There will come a time
When you will leave her arms
And forever be in mine
But I don’t think that’s the truth
And I don’t like being used and I’m tired of waiting
It’s too much pain to have to bear
To love a man you have to share

Why don’t you stay
I’m down on my knees
I’m so tired of being lonely
Don’t I give you what you need
When she calls you to go
There is one thing you should know
We don’t have to live this way
Baby, why don’t you stay

I can’t take it any longer
But my will is getting stronger
And I think I know just what I have to do
I can’t waste another minute
After all that I’ve put in it
I’ve given you my best
Why does she get the best of you
So next time you find you wanna leave her bed for mine

Why don’t you stay
I’m up off my knees
I’m so tired of being lonely
You can’t give me what I need
When she begs you not to go
There is one thing you should know
I don’t have to live this way
Baby, why don’t you stay, yeah

Saturday Song Lyrics (Chris Cagle)

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

caglealbum.jpgThis week was all about being with family and I am very thankful for my four year old son and his entertaining ways. Today’s song lyrics are dedicated to him, as they are his current favorite song to sing and perform. We heard several renditions of this song a cappella as we traveled to Thanksgiving Dinner. It’s a great time watching him, and I hope you enjoy the lyrics as much as my son does!

Chicks Dig It by Chris Cagle

Hey y’all watch this
Daddy’s belt, momma’s drapes
Standin’ tall on the backyard shed
Lookin’ cool in my superman cape
I told the the neighborhood girls
Said “Hey y’all, watch this”
My fate was a broken arm
My reward one big kiss
When daddy asked me why I did it
I made him laugh out loud when I told him
“‘Cause the chicks dig it”

Scars heal, glory fades
And all we’re left with are the memories made
Pain hurts, but only for a minute
Yeah life is short so go on and live it
‘Cause the chicks dig it

Black top road
Learner permit
Thought I was Earnhardt
Drivin’ fast but I didn’t see the ditch
Took out a mailbox, then a fence and then a barn
The police came and called my father
But I met the farmer’s daughter
And when the judge asked me why I did it
He threw the book at me when I told him
“‘Cause the chicks dig it”

Scars heal, glory fades
And all we’re left with are the memories made
Pain hurts, but only for a minute
Yeah life is short so go on and live it
‘Cause the chicks dig it

Just throw caution to the wind my friend
Then sit back and watch your life begin, ‘ cause

Scars heal, glory fades
And all we’re left with are the memories made
Pain hurts, but only for a minute
Yeah life is short so go on and live it
‘Cause the chicks dig it

Scars heal, glory fades
And all we’re left with are the memories made
Pain hurts, but only for a minute
Yeah life is short so go on and live it
It don’t matter if you lose or if you win it
Hey the chicks dig it
The chicks dig it
The chicks dig it
The chicks dig it

Saturday Song Lyrics (Garth Brooks)

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

garthalbum.jpgIs it really a comeback for Garth Brooks? He just wrapped up performing a string of shows in Kansas City that were completely sold out and also broadcasted live to theatres in several states (Garth’s real life wife Trisha Yearwood also performed). He also just released his Ultimate Hits album and has a new single that went all the way to number one on the country music singles charts. So in honor of Garth’s potential comeback, here are the lyrics for his current hit, “More than a Memory”:

More than a Memory by Garth Brooks

People say she’s only in my head
It’s gonna take time, but I’ll forget
They say I need to get on with my life
What they don’t realize

Is when you’re dialing 6 numbers just to hang up the phone
Driving cross town just to see if she’s home
Waking a friend in the dead of the night
Just to hear him say it’s going to be alright
When you’re finding things to do, not to fall asleep
‘Cause you know she’ll be there in your dreams
That’s when she’s
More than a memory

Took a match to everything she ever wrote
Watched her words go up in smoke
Tore all her pictures off the wall
That ain’t helping me at all

‘Cause when you’re talking out loud, but nobody’s there
You look like hell and you just don’t care
You’re drinking more than you ever drank
Sinking down lower than you ever sank
When you find yourself falling down upon your knees
Praying to God, begging “please”
That’s when she’s
More than a memory

She’s more
She’s more

‘Cause when you’re dialing her number just to hang up the phone
Driving cross town just to see if she’s home
Waking a friend in the dead of the night
Just to hear him say it’s going to be alright
When you’re finding things to do, not to fall asleep
Cause you know she’s waiting in your dreams
That’s when she’s
More than a memory

People say she’s only in my head
Gonna take time but I’ll forget

Saturday Song Lyrics (Carrie Underwood)

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

carriecma1.jpgIn honor of the newly crowned “Song of the Year” at this past week’s CMA awards, this week’s Saturday Song Lyrics come from Carrie Underwood’s smash hit “Before He Cheats”. This is just one of those songs that I crank in my car and sing along to at the top of my lungs with feeling. Congratulations to Carrie on the award!

“Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood

Right now, he’s probably slow dancing
With a bleach blonde tramp
And she’s probably gettin’ frisky

Right now, he’s probably buying her
Some fruity little drink
‘Cause she can’t shoot whisky

Right now, he’s probably up behind her
With a pool stick showing her
How to shoot a combo
But he don’t know

That I dug my key into the side
Of his pretty little suped up
Four wheel Drive
Carved my name
Into his leather seats
Took a Louisville Slugger
To both headlights
Slashed a hole
In all four tires
Maybe next time he’ll think
Before he cheats

Right now, she’s probably up singing
Some white trash version
Of Shania Karaoke

Right now, she’s probably saying
“I’m Drunk” and he’s a thinking
That he’s gonna get lucky

Right now, he’s probably dabbing on
Three dollars worth of
That bathroom polo
But he don’t know

That I dug my key into the side
Of his pretty little suped up
Four wheel Drive
Carved my name
Into his leather seats
Took a Louisville Slugger
To both headlights
Slashed a hole
In all four tires
Maybe next time he’ll think
Before he cheats

I might’ve saved a little trouble
For the next girl
‘Cause the next time that he cheats
Oh you know it won’t be on me
No, not on me

‘Cause I dug my key into the side
Of his pretty little suped up
Four wheel Drive
Carved my name
Into his leather seats
Took a Louisville Slugger
To both headlights
Slashed a hole
In all four tires
Maybe next time he’ll think
Before he cheats

Maybe next time he’ll think
Before he cheats

Oh oh oh
Before he cheats

Saturday Song Lyrics (Taylor Swift)

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

swiftalbum.jpgNow normally I wouldn’t repeat an artist so soon in my Saturday Song Lyrics collection, but I got a request from a reader to post the lyrics to Taylor Swift’s song “Invisible”. I must confess, I had never heard of the song before, so I had to do a little research to fulfill the request. I headed over to Taylor Swift’s official MySpace page and sure enough, it was in her player there. I listened to it and I absolutely love it (and made it the song that plays on my own MySpace profile). Who hasn’t felt this way about someone at some point in their life? For a 17 year old, she sure understands life and how to connect with other people. So without further ado, here are the lyrics for “Invisible”:

She can’t see the way your eyes
Light up when you smile
She’ll never notice how you stop and stare
Whenever she walks by
And you can’t see me wanting you
The way you want her
But you are everything to me

And I just wanna show you
She don’t even know you
She’s never gonna love you like I want to
And you just see right through me
But if you only knew me
We could be a beautiful miracle, unbelievable
Instead I’m just invisible

Yeah, mmm hmm

There’s a fire inside of you
That can’t help but shine through
She’s never gonna see the light
No matter what you do
And all I think about is how to make you think of me
And everything we could be

And I just wanna show you
She don’t even know you
She’s never gonna love you like I want to
And you just see right through me
But if you only knew me
We could be a beautiful miracle, unbelievable
Instead I’m just invisible

Saturday Song Lyrics (Rascal Flatts)

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

rascalflatts2.jpgForgive me this week, Country Music Herald readers, for a bit of indulgence. I just feel I need to post the lyrics to my favorite country song this week. This is the song that really got me listening to country music. You see, I’m a boy band fanatic and as many anti-fans will tell you, Rascal Flatts is considered the boy band of country music. I just related to this song because sure enough, after college I married a rodeo cowboy in Las Vegas. It was like they were singing to me and so I became an instant fan.

I hope you enjoy the lyrics to my favorite country song, and if you want to give me some ideas for song lyrics you’d like to see next week, leave me a comment or two!

These Days by Rascal Flatts

Hey baby, is that you?
Wow, your hair got so long.
Yeah, yeah, I love it, I really do.
“Norma Jean”, ain’t that the song we’d sing in the car
Drivin’ downtown, top down, makin’ the rounds
Checking out the bands on Doheny Avenue.
Yeah, life throws you curves,
But you learned to swerve.
Me, I swung and I missed,
And the next thing ya know, I’m reminiscing.
Dreaming old dreams, wishing old wishes,
Like you would be back again.

I wake up and tear drops, they fall down like rain.
I put on that old song we danced to and then,
I head off to my job, guess not much has changed.
Punch the clock, head for home,
Check the phone, just in case.
Go to bed, dream of you.
That’s what I’m doin’ these days.
Yeah that’s what I’m doin’

Someone told me, after college, you ran off to Vegas,
You married a rodeo cowboy,
Wow, that ain’t the girl I knew.
Me, I’ve been a few places,
Mostly here and there once or twice.
Still sortin’ out life, but I’m doin’ all right.
Yeah, it’s good to see you, too.
Well, hey girl you’re late, and those planes, they don’t wait,
But if you ever come back around this sleepy old town,
Promise me you’ll stop in, to see an old friend, and until then…

I wake up and tear drops, they fall down like rain.
I put on that old song we danced to and then,
I head off to my job, guess not much has changed.
Punch the clock, head for home,
Check the phone, just in case.
Go to bed, dream of you.
That’s what I’m doin’ these…

I wake up and tear drops, they fall down like rain.
I put on that old song we danced to and then,
I wake up and tear drops, they fall down like rain.
I put on that old song we danced to and then,

I wake up and tear drops, they fall down like rain.
I put on that old song we danced to and then,
I wake up and tear drops, they fall down like rain.
I put on that old song we danced to and then…

Saturday Song Lyrics (Taylor Swift)

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

swiftalbum.jpgTaylor Swift, country music’s currently deepest teenager, has just released her new single that I can’t get enough of. The sweet lyrics and catchy beat keep me singing “Our Song” long after it’s done playing on the radio. So this week’s Saturday Song Lyrics come from Miss Taylor Swift with her latest hit “Our Song”.

Our Song by Taylor Swift

I was riding shotgun with my hair undone in the front seat of his car
He’s got a one-hand feel on the steering wheel
The other on my heart
I look around, turn the radio down
He says baby is something wrong?
I say nothing I was just thinking how we don’t have a song
And he says

Our song is the slamming screen door,
Sneakin’ out late, tapping on your window
When we’re on the phone and you talk real slow
Cause it’s late and your mama don’t know
Our song is the way you laugh
The first date “man, I didn’t kiss her, and I should have”
And when I got home before I said amen
Asking God if he could play it again

I was walking up the front porch steps after everything that day
Had gone all wrong and been trampled on
And lost and thrown away
Got to the hallway, well on my way to my lovin’ bed
I almost didn’t notice all the roses
And the note that said

Our song is the slamming screen door,
Sneakin’ out late, tapping on your window
When we’re on the phone and you talk real slow
Cause it’s late and your mama don’t know
Our song is the way you laugh
The first date man, I didn’t kiss her, and I should have
And when I got home before I said amen
Asking God if he could play it again

I’ve heard every album, listened to the radio
Waited for something to come along
That was as good as our song

Cause our song is the slamming screen door
Sneaking out late, tapping on his window
When we’re on the phone and he talks real slow
Cause it’s late and his mama don’t know
Our song is the way he laughs
The first date man, I didn’t kiss him, and I should have
And when I got home, before I said amen
Asking God if he could play it again

I was riding shotgun with my hair undone
In the front seat of his car
I grabbed a pen and an old napkin
And I wrote down our song

Saturday Song Lyrics (Jo Dee Messina)

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

messinaalbum.jpg

So it’s been a rough week for me, and I feel this song really sums up how I’m feeling about some things right now. Jo Dee Messina is really speaking to me this weekend with her song My Give a Damn’s Busted, so go ahead an enjoy these lyrics–I’m taking the day off!

My Give a Damn’s Busted

Well, you filled up my head with so many lies.
You twisted my heart till somethin’ snapped inside.
I’d like to give it one more try,
But my give-a-damn’s busted.

You can crawl back home, say you were wrong;
Stand out in the yard and cry all night long.
Well, go ahead and water the lawn:
My give-a-damn’s busted.

I really wanna care.
I wanna feel somethin’.
Let me dig a little deeper:.
No, sorry: nothin’.

You can say you’ve got issues, you can say you’re a victim.
It’s all your parents fault,I mean after all you didn’t pick ‘em.
Maybe somebody else has got time to listen:
My give-a-damn’s busted.

Well, your therapist says it was all a mistake:
A product of the Prozac and your co-dependent ways.
So who’s your enabler these days?
My give-a-damn’s busted.

I really wanna care.
I wanna feel somethin’.
Let me dig a little deeper:.
No, still nothin’.

It’s a desperate situation, no tellin’ what you’ll do.
If I don’t forgive you, you say your life is through.
C’mon, gimme somethin’ I can use:
My give-a-damn’s busted.

Well, I really wanna care.
I wanna feel somethin’.
Let me dig a little deeper:
No, Man sorry.
Just nothin’, you know.
You’ve really done it this time, ha, ha.
My give-a-damn’s busted.

Saturday Song Lyrics (Brad Paisley)

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

online.JPGIt’s Saturday, so that means it’s time for some song lyrics. As I’ve admitted previously, I absolutely love Brad Paisley. His latest hit, “Online” really cracks me up. As a blogger, I can relate to the hero in the song and I think the video is hysterical. Here are the complete lyrics to the song. Enjoy!

Online - Brad Paisley

I work down at the Pizza Pit
And I drive an old Hyundai
I still live with my mom and dad
I’m 5 foot 3 and overweight
I’m a scifi fanatic
A mild asthmatic
And I’ve never been to second base
But there’s whole ‘nother me
That you need to see
Go checkout MySpace

‘Cause online I’m out in Hollywood
I’m 6 foot 5 and I look damn good
I drive a Maserati
I’m a black-belt in karate
And I love a good glass of wine
It turns girls on that I’m mysterious
I tell them I don’t want nothing serious
‘Cause even on a slow day
I could have a three way
Chat with two women at one time
I’m so much cooler online
So much cooler online

When I get home I kiss my mom
And she fixes me a snack
And I head down to my basement bedroom
And fire up my Mac
In real life the only time I’ve ever even been to L.A
Is when I got the chance with the marching band
To play tuba in the Rose Parade

Online I live in Malibu
I pose for Calvin Klein, I’ve been in GQ
I’m single and I’m rich
And I’ve got a set of six pack abs that would blow your mind
It turns girls on that I’m mysterious
I tell them I don’t want nothing serious
‘Cause even on a slow day
I could have a three way
Chat with two women at one time
I’m so much cooler online
So much cooler online

When you got my kind of stats
It’s hard to get a date
Let alone a real girlfriend
But I grow another foot and I lose a bunch of weight
Every time I login

Online
I’m out in Hollywood
I’m 6 foot 5 and I look damn good
Even on a slow day
I could have a three way
Chat with two women at one time
I’m so much cooler online
Yeah, I’m cooler online
I’m so much cooler online
Yeah, I’m cooler online

Yeah, I’m cooler online

Yeah, I’ll see ya online

Saturday Song Lyrics (Martina McBride)

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

I’m in the mood for a little bit of an inspirational country song. Martina McBride is a powerhouse singer and her song “Anyway” has such a great message behind it. Here are the lyrics:

You can spend your whole life building
Something from nothin’
One storm can come and blow it all away
Build it anyway

You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway

God is great
But sometimes life ain’t good
And when I pray
It doesn’t always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway

This world’s gone crazy
It’s hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway

You can love someone with all your heart
For all the right reasons
In a moment they can choose to walk away
Love ‘em anyway

God is great
But sometimes life ain’t good
And when I pray
It doesn’t always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
Yea - I do it anyway

You can pour your soul out singing
A song you believe in
That tomorrow they’ll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway
Yea, sing it anyway
Yeah, yeah!

I sing
I dream
I love anyway

Saturday Song Lyrics (George Strait)

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

This weekend’s song lyrics are from the incomparable George Strait. I love country songs that not only tell a story, but also inject a little bit of humor in them. So, without further ado, here are the lyrics to “You Know Me Better Than That”.

Baby since you left me there’s somebody new
She thinks I’m perfect I swear
She likes my body, my class, and my charm
She says I’ve got a confident air
She respects my ambition, thinks I’m talented too
But she’s in love with an image time is bound to see through
Oh,

Chorus:
You know me better than that
You know the me that gets lazy and fat
How moody I can be
All my insecurities
You’ve seen me lose all my charm
You know I was raised on a farm
Oh she tells her friends I’m perfect
And that I love her cat
But you know me better than that

I miss picnics and blue jeans and buckets of beer
Now it’s ballet and symphony hall
I’m into culture clean up to my ears
It’s like wearin’ a shoe that’s too small
Oh I caught her with an issue of brides magazine
Starin’ at dresses and pickin’ out rings
But,

Chorus

Oh she tells her friends I’m perfect
And that I love that cat
Oh, but you know me better than that

Saturday Song Lyrics (Steve Azar)

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

Every Saturday, the Country Music Herald will bring you lyrics of your favorite country songs. I decided to start out with a song that celebrates the weekend and relaxing. This week’s song lyrics are from “I Don’t Have To Be Me (’Til Monday)” by Steve Azar:

I got me a brand new car waiting in the driveway
Shinin’ like a bright new star, I’ve been wishin’ on it everyday
To take me away from here
So I called in to where I work, told a little white lie
No my back don’t really hurt, but that’s my alibi
My temporary ticket to anywhere but there
Call it an early weekend, call it goin’ off the deep in
Call it what you want, I made up my mind

I don’t have to be me ’til Monday
Friday, Saturday, Sunday
I ain’t gonna face reality
Three days without punching a time clock
Three nights of goin’ non-stop
No work and all play
I don’t have to be ’til Monday
Yeah

I can do what I wanna do, be who I wanna be
I got no one to answer to, soon as I turn the key
A cash machine, gasoline and we’re outta here
Call it an early weekend, call it goin’ off thedeep end
Baby, you and me, we can leave it all behind

I don’t have to be me ’til Monday
Friday, Saturday, Sunday
I ain’t gonna face reality
Three days without punching a time clock
Three nights of goin’ non-stop
No work and all play
I don’t have to be ’til Monday
Yeah

Oh, there days without punching a time clock
Three nights of goin’ non-stop
No work and all play
I don’t have to be me ’til Monday

(I don’t have to be me)
I don’t have to be me ’til Monday
(I don’t have to be me)
I don’t have to be me ’til Moday
(I don’t have to be me)
I don’t have to be me ’til Monday
