Saturday Song Lyrics (Travis Tritt)

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

trittalbum.jpgWhat a gorgeous spring day it was here today. I spent most of the day outside playing with my son and just enjoying the warm weather and fresh air. It made me feel great and count my blessings after a long, hard winter. This song was running through my head all day today as sort of a background soundtrack. I hope you enjoyed your Saturday as much as I did mine!

It’s a Great Day to Be Alive by Travis Tritt

I got rice cooking in the microwave
Got a three day beard I don’t plan to shave
And it’s a goofy thing but I just gotta say
Hey I’m doing alright

Yeah I think I’ll make me some homemade soup
Feelin’ pretty good and that’s the truth
It’s neither drink nor drug induced
No I’m just doin’ alright

And it’s a great day to be alive
I know the sun’s still shinin’ when I close my eyes
There’s some hard times in the neighborhood
But why can’t every day be just this good?

It’s been fifteen years since I left home
Said good luck to every seed I’d sown
Give it my best and then I left it alone
Oh…I hope they’re doin’ alright

Now I look in the mirror and what do I see?
A lone wolf there starin’ back at me
Long in the tooth but harmless as can be
Lord I guess he’s doin’ alright

And it’s a great day to be alive
I know the sun’s still shinin’ when I close my eyes
There’s some hard times in the neighborhood
But why can’t every day be just this good?

Sometimes it’s lonely
Sometimes it’s only me
And the shadows that fill this room
Sometimes I’m fallin’
Desperately callin’
Howlin’ at the moon…
Ahwoo!
Ahwoo!

Well I might go get me a new tattoo
Or take my old Harley for a three day cruise
Might even grow me a Fu Man Chu…
Oh Aww!

And it’s a great day to be alive
I know the sun’s still shinin’ when I close my eyes
There’s some hard times in the neighborhood
But why can’t every day be just this good?

And it’s a great day to be alive
I know the sun’s still shinin’ when I close my eyes
There’s some hard times in the neighborhood
But why can’t every day be just this good?

Saturday Song Lyrics (Tim McGraw)

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

mcgrawalbum.jpgI was talking the other day with some of my friends, and the topic of Tim McGraw and all of his hits came up. We discussed which were our favorite Tim McGraw songs. I like quite a few, but it came down to “Do You Want Fries With That” and the one I chose for today’s song lyrics.

I think I like it the most because it’s a catchy, upbeat tune that we can all relate to and sing along with. Enjoy!

Something Like That by Tim McGraw

It was Labor Day weekend I was seventeen
I bought a Coke and some gasoline
And I drove out to the county fair
When I saw her for the first time
She was standing there in the ticket line
And it all started right then and there
Oh, a sailer’s sky made a perfect sunset
And that’s the day I’ll never forget

I had a barbeque stain on my white tee shirt
She was killing me in that miniskirt
Skippin’ rocks on the river by the railroad tracks
She had a suntan line and red lipstick
I worked so hard for that first kiss
And a heart don’t forget something like that

Well it was five years later on a southbound plane
I was headed down to New Orleans
To meet some friends of mine for Mardi Gras
When I heard a voice from the past
Comin’ from a few rows back
And when I looked, I couldn’t believe just what I saw
She said I bet you don’t remember me
And I said only every other memory

I had a barbeque stain on my white tee shirt
You were killing me in that miniskirt
Skippin’ rocks on the river by the railroad tracks
You had a suntan line and red lipstick
I worked so hard for that first kiss
And a heart don’t forget something like that

Like an old photograph
Time can make a feeling fade
But the memory of a first love
Never fades away

I had a barbecue stain on my white tee shirt
She was killing me in that miniskirt
Skippin’ rocks on the river by the railroad tracks
She had a sun tan line and red lipstick
I worked so hard for that first kiss
A heart don’t forget, no a heart don’t forget
I said a heart don’t forget something like that
Oh, not something like that

Saturday Song Lyrics (Keith Urban)

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

urbanalbum.jpgIt’s a beautiful day here, but it’s supposed to be pretty messy tomorrow. I’m just glad it looks like the heavy snow is over and we can bring on spring. It’s been a long winter and a little rain won’t be so bad, right? Keith Urban has some good ideas of what to do when it’s Raining on Sunday, so here are the lyrics to his hit song for you.

Raining on Sunday by Keith Urban

It ticks just like a Timex
It never lets up on you
Who said life was easy
The job is never through
It’ll run us ’til we’re ragged
It’ll harden our hearts
And love could use a day of rest
Before we both start falling apart

Pray that it’s raining on Sunday
Stormin’ like crazy
We’ll hide under the covers all afternoon
Baby whatever comes Monday
Can take care of itself
‘Cause we got better things that we could do
When it’s raining on Sunday

Your love is like religion
A cross in Mexico
And your kiss is like the innocence
Of a prayer nailed to a door
Oh surrender in much sweeter
When we both let it go
Let the water wash our bodies clean
And love wash our souls

Pray that it’s raining on Sunday
Stormin’ like crazy
We’ll hide under the covers all afternoon
Baby whatever comes Monday
Can take care of itself
‘Cause we got better things that we could do
When it’s raining on Sunday

Pray that it’s raining on Sunday
Stormin’ like crazy
We’ll hide under the covers all afternoon
Baby whatever comes Monday
Can take care of itself
‘Cause we got better things that we could do
When it’s raining on Sunday
When it’s raining on Sunday
When it’s raining on Sunday
Let it rain

Saturday Song Lyrics (Little Texas)

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

littletexas.jpgI’ve been feeling a bit nostalgic lately. Maybe it’s because my 30th birthday is looming large on the horizon, or maybe it’s just a desire for closure on my past as I embark on my future. Whatever the reason, I caught Little Texas on the radio the other day and it really made me think. So I decided this week’s song lyrics would be a bit personal in their meaning and I would share them all with you.

What Might Have Been by Little Texas

Sure I think about you now and then
But it’s been a long long time
I’ve got a good life now I’ve moved on
So when you cross my mind

I try not to think about
What might have been
‘Cause that was then
And we have taken different roads
We can’t go back again
There’s no use giving in
And there’s no way to know
What might have been

We could sit and talk about this all night long
And wonder why we didn’t last
Yes they might be the best days
We will ever know
But we’ll have to leave them in the past

So try not to think about
What might have been
‘Cause that was then
And we have taken different roads
We can’t go back again
There’s no use giving in
And there’s no way to know
What might have been

That same old look in your eyes
It’s a beautiful night
I’m so tempted to stay
But too much time has gone by
We should just say goodbye
And turn and walk away

And try not to think about
What might have been
‘Cause that was then
And we have taken different roads
We can’t go back again
There’s no use giving in
And there’s no way to know
What might have been

No we’ll never know
What might have been

Saturday Song Lyrics (Luke Bryan)

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

lukebryan.jpgI think we’ve all had a night like the one in Luke Bryan’s hit “All My Friends Say”. I know I certainly had my share of times at the bar with my friends trying to pretend like I didn’t care when an ex-boyfriend walked through the door. I often tried to show how great I was doing without him and how much fun my life was.

So, for all of you out there showing that you’re doing well, here’s some song lyrics just for you.

All My Friends Say by Luke Bryan

I got smoke in my hair
My clothes thrown everywhere
Woke up in my rocking chair
Holding a beer in my hand
Sporting a neon tan

My stereo cranked up
I can’t find my truck
How’d I get home from the club
Ain’t got a clue what went down
So I started calling around

And all my friends say
I started shooting doubles
When you walked in
All my friends say
I went a little crazy
Seeing you with him
You know I don’t remember a thing
But they say I sure was raising some cain
I was a rock star, party hard,
Getting over you comeback kid
Yeah I must have did
What all my friends say
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah

I found my billfold
I cried oh no no
Good time Charlie got me now I’m broke
But it was worth acting like a fool
Yeah girl I must have really showed you

Cause all my friends say
I started shooting doubles
When you walked in
All my friends say
I went a little crazy
Seeing you with him
You know I don’t remember a thing
But they say I sure was raising some cain
I was a rock star, party hard,
Getting over you comeback kid
Yeah I must have did
What all my friends say
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah

I was Elvis rocking on the bar
Working the crowd pouring out my heart

And all my friends say
I started shooting doubles
When you walked in
All my friends say
I went a little crazy
Seeing you with him
You know I don’t remember a thing
But they say I sure was raising some cain
I was a rock star, party hard,
Getting over you comeback kid
Yeah I must have did
What all my friends say
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah

Saturday Song Lyrics (Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus)

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

cyrusalbum.jpgI am just so excited about the announcement that Nashville Star is coming back, that I couldn’t resist continuing my celebration with the Saturday Song Lyrics this week. Sure, I could have posted something by Buddy Jewel, Chris Young, or Miranda Lambert (which is a good idea and maybe I’ll do that next week), but instead I decided to post something from the newly named host, Billy Ray Cyrus. I could have tortured everyone by getting “Achy Breaky Heart” stuck in your heads, but I went with his current top ten hit “Ready, Set, Don’t Go” duet with his daughter, Hannah Montana star, Miley Cyrus. Enjoy!

Ready, Set, Don’t Go by Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus

(BILLY RAY:)
Shes gotta do what shes gotta do
And I’ve gotta like it or not
Shes got dreams to big for this town
And she needs to give ‘em a shot

Theres nothin’ left to pack

(BILLY RAY:)
Aint no room for me in that car
Even if she asks me to tag along

`Fore she hits that open road
Baby get ready
(MILEY:)
Ohh Im ready
(BILLY RAY:)
Get set, don’t go

(MILEY:)
Looks like things are fallin in place

(BILLY RAY:)
Feels like theyre fallin apart
Im paintin this big ol’ smile on my face
To hide my broken heart
If only she knew

(MILEY:)
This is where you don’t say
What you want so bad to say

(BILLY RAY;)
This is where I want to
But I wont get in the way
Of her and her dream
And spreadin her wings
(MILEY:)
I’m ready to fly

(MILEY:)
Im at the startin line of the rest of my life
As ready as I’ve ever been
Got the hunger and the stars in my eyes
The prize is mine to win
(BILLY RAY:)

She’s waitin’ on my blessins `fore she hits that open road
(MILEY:)

(CHORUS)
(MILEY:)
Im at the startin line of the rest of my life

(BILLY RAY:)

‘Fore she hits that open road
Baby get ready
(MILEY:)

(BILLY RAY:)
Get set, please don’t go
Don’t go

(MILEY:)
Lemme go now

I’ll be okay
Know that I’ll
Be thinkin of you
Each and every day

(BILLY RAY:)
Shes gotta do what shes gotta do

(MILEY:)
lemme go now

(BILLY RAY)
Shes gotta do what shes gotta do

(MILEY:)
I gotta do what I gotta do

(BILLY RAY:)
Shes gotta do what shes gotta do

Saturday Song Lyrics (Chuck Wicks)

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

wicksalbum.jpgIt seems like every year there is a new country song that comes out that you are just sure will be played at every wedding all year long, and this year is no exception. This year, I have a few weddings to go to, and I just know that the Father of the Bride and Bride dance will be to “Stealing Cinderella” by Chuck Wicks. Of course, I will cry as I listen and watch the dance, as will most other people in the crowd. So in honor of all of you getting married and dancing to this song, here are the lyrics to “Stealing Cinderella”.

Stealing Cinderella by Chuck Wicks

I came to see her daddy for sit down man to man
It wasn’t any secret i’d be asking for her hand
I guess that’s why he left me waiting in the living room by myself
with at least a dozen pictures of her sitting on a shelf

She was playing Cinderella
She was riding her first bike
Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight
Running through the sprinkler with a big Popsicle grin
Dancing with her dad, looking up at him
In her eyes I’m Prince Charming
But to him I’m just some fella
Riding in and stealing Cinderella

I leaned in towards those pictures to get a better look at one
When I heard a voice behind me say “Now, ain’t she something, son?”
I said “Yes, she quite a woman” and he just stared at me
Then I realized that in his eyes she would always be

Playing Cinderella
Riding her first bike
Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight
Running through the sprinkler with a big Popsicle grin
Dancing with her dad, looking up at him
In her eyes I’m Prince Charming
But to him I’m just some fella
Riding in and stealing Cinderella

He slapped me on the shoulder
Then he called her in the room
When she threw her arms around him
That’s when I could see it too

She was Playing Cinderella
Riding her first bike
Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight
Running through the sprinkler with a big Popsicle grin
Dancing with her dad, looking up at him
If he gives me a hard time
I can’t blame the fella
I’m the one who’s stealing Cinderella

Saturday Song Lyrics (Alabama)

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

alabamaalbum.jpgHave you ever had one of those days (weeks? months? years? lives?) when it just seems like you have a huge to do list and it just keeps getting longer no matter how hard you work? That seems to be the story of my life, but I like being busy. However, sometimes I do have to stop and catch my breath and remember there are more important things to do besides work my life away. This is one of those weekends. I have deadlines to meet, lessons to plan, and a family to take care of. I’m going to take the day off tomorrow to spend it with my family watching the Daytona 500, though, so hopefully that will remind me to slow down sometimes and not be in such a rush.

I’m in a Hurry and Don’t Know Why by Alabama

I’m in a hurry to get things done
Oh I rush and rush until life’s no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why

Don’t know why I have to drive so fast
My car has nothing to prove
It’s not new
But it’ll do zero to sixty in five point two

I’m in a hurry to get things done
Oh I rush and rush until life’s no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why

Can’t be late, I leave in plenty of time
Shakin’ hands with the clock
I can’t stop
I’m on a roll and I’m ready to rock

I’m in a hurry to get things done
Oh I rush and rush until life’s no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why

Oh, I hear a voice
That says I’m running behind
Better pick up my pace
It’s a race and there ain’t no room for someone in second place

I’m in a hurry to get things done
Oh I rush and rush until life’s no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why

Saturday Song Lyrics (Dierks Bentley)

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

dierksalbum_1.jpgSo the Grammy Awards are tomorrow night and there are a lot of great country music artists nominated for awards this year. One of them is Dierks Bentley, so in honor of his nomination, I thought I would post some lyrics from the song that made him a superstar to begin with. So I hope you enjoy and root for Dierks tomorrow night!

What Was I Thinkin’ by Dierks Bentley

Well, Becky was a beauty from south Alabama.
Her Daddy had a heart like a nine pound hammer.
Think he even did a little time in the slammer.
What was I thinkin’?

She snuck out one night an’ met me by the front gate,
Her Daddy came out a-wavin’ that 12-guage
We tore out the drive, he peppered my tailgate.
What was I thinkin’?

Oh, I knew there’d be hell to pay.
But that crossed my mind a little too late.

‘Cause I was thinkin’ ’bout a little white tank top,
Sittin’ right there in the middle by me.
An’ I was thinkin’ ’bout a long kiss,
Man, just gotta get goin’, where the night might lead.
I know what I was feelin’,
But what was I thinkin’?
What was I thinkin’?

By the County line, the cops were nippin’ on our heels,
Pulled off the road an’ kicked it in four-wheel.
Shut off the lights an’ tore through a cornfield.
What was I thinkin’?

At the other side, she was hollerin’: “Faster.”
Took a dirt road, had the radio blastin’.
Hit the honky-tonk for a little close dancin’.

When a mountain of a man with a “Born To Kill” tattoo,
Tried to cut in, I knocked out his front tooth.
We ran outside, hood slidin’ like Bo Duke.
What was I thinkin’?

I finally got her home at a half past two, later.
Daddy’s in a lawn chair sittin’ on the driveway,
Put it in park as he started my way.
What was I thinkin’?
Oh, what was I thinkin’?
Oh, what was I thinkin’?

Then she gave a “Come an’ get me grin.”
An’ like a bullet, we were gone again.

‘Cause I was thinkin’ ’bout a little white tank top,
Sittin’ right there in the middle by me.
An’ I was thinkin’ ’bout a long kiss,
Man, just gotta get goin’ where the night might lead.
I know what I was feelin’,
But what was I thinkin’?
What was I thinkin’?

I know what I was feelin’, but what was I thinkin’?

Saturday Song Lyrics (Deanna Carter)

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

carter.jpgI just happened to be driving the other day to work when I heard this song on the radio. I hadn’t heard it for a long time, but it’s one I always belt out when it does come on occasionally. I’m not sure if it’s because I relate to the lyrics or Deanna Carter’s feeling she puts into the song, but whatever it is just makes me want to sing along. People at stoplights think I’m insane, and they are probably right. Next time you hear Strawberry Wine on the airwaves, you can join my insanity and sing along as well now that you know the lyrics. Enjoy!

Strawberry Wine by Deanna Carter

He was working through college
On my grandpa’s farm
I was thirsting for for knowledge
And he had a car
I was caught somewhere between a woman and a child
When one restless summer we found love growing wild
On the banks of the river on a well beaten path
Funny how those memories they last

Like strawberry wine
Seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love
Oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine

I still remember
When thirty was old
My biggest fear was September
When he had to go
A few cards and letters and one long distance call
We drifted away like the leaves in the fall
But year after year I come back to this place
Just to remember the taste

Of strawberry wine
Seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love
Oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine

The fields have grown over now
Been years since they’ve seen a plow
There’s nothing time hasn’t touched
Is it really him or the loss of my innocence
I’ve been missing so much

Like strawberry wine
Seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love
Oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine

Saturday Song Lyrics (Craig Morgan)

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

morganalbum.jpgThis week’s Saturday Song Lyrics are dedicated to all of those hardworking farmers across the country. I know from experience here living in rural Iowa there is no reason to get upset at those slow moving tractors on the highway because they are just doing their jobs. I really enjoy Craig Morgan’s song “International Harvester” because it is dead on with its lyrics. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

International Harvester by Craig Morgan

I’m the son of a 3rd generation farmer
I’ve been married 10 years to the farmer’s daughter
I’m a God fearin’ hard workin’ combine driver
Hoggin’ up the road on my p-p-p-p-plower
Chug a lug a luggin’ 5 miles an hour
On my International Harvester

Three miles of cars layin’ on their horns
Fallin’ on deaf ears of corn
Lined up behind me like a big parade
Of late to work road raged jerks
Shoutin’ obscene words flippin’ me the bird

Well you may be on a state paved road
But that blacktop runs through my payload
Excuse me for tryin’ to do my job
But this year ain’t been no bumper crop
If you don’t like the way I’m a drivin’
Get back on the interstate
Otherwise sit tight and be nice
And quit yer honkin’ at me that way

Cause I’m a son of a 3rd generation farmer
I’ve been married 10 years to a farmer’s daughter
I got 2 boys in the county 4-H
I’m a lifetime sponsor of the F.F.A.
Hay! That’s what I make
I make a lotta hay for a little pay
But I’m proud to say
I’m a God fearin’ hard workin’ combine driver
Hoggin’ up the road on my a p-p-p-plower
Chug a lug a lugin’ 5 miles an hour
On my International Harvester

Well I know you got your own deadlines
But cussin’ me ain’t savin’ no time hoss
This big-wheeled wide load ain’t goin’ any faster
So just smile and wave and tip your hat
To the man up on the tractor

Cause I’m a son of a 3rd generation farmer
I’ve been married 10 years to a farmer’s daughter
I got two boys in the county 4-H
I’m a lifetime sponsor of the F.F.A.
Hay! That’s what I make
I make a lot of hay for a little pay
But I’m proud to say
I’m a God fearin’ hard workin’ combine driver
Hoggin’ up the road on my p-p-p-plower
Chug a lug a lugin’ 5 miles an hour
On my International Harvester

I’m a God fearin’ hard workin’ combine driver
Hoggin’ up the road on my p-p-p-plower
Chug a lug a lugin’ 5 miles an hour
On my International Harvester

Saturday Song Lyrics (Rodney Atkins)

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

atkinsalbum.jpgEvery time I hear this song on the radio, it makes me giggle. Probably because it reminds me of my dad and how he told me I wasn’t allowed to date until I was married. I think every daddy out there at least thinks about this scenario when some boy comes over to take his little girl out. It’s a great song and will probably be relevant to everyone for a long time to come. So, all of you daddies, little girls, and boys who like to date a daddy’s little girl, I hope you can relate and enjoy this weekend’s song lyrics.

Cleanin’ This Gun by Rodney Atkins

The Declaration of Independence
Think I could tell you that first sentence
But then I’m lost

I can’t begin to count the theories
I’ve had pounded in my head
That I forgot

I don’t remember all that Spanish
Or the Gettysburg address
But there is one speech from high school
I’ll never forget

Come on in boy sit on down
And tell me about yourself
So you like my daughter do you now?
Yeah we think she’s something else
She’s her daddy’s girl
Her momma’s world
She deserves respect
That’s what she’ll get
Ain’t it son?
Hey y’all run along and have some fun
I’ll see you when you get back
Bet I’ll be up all night
Still cleanin’ this gun

Well now that I’m a father
I’m scared to death one day my daughter
Is gonna find
That teenage boy I used to be
That seems to have just one thing on his mind

She’s growin’ up so fast
It won’t be long before
I’ll have to put the fear of god into
Some kid at the door

Come on in boy sit on down
And tell me about yourself
So you like my daughter do you now?
Yeah we think she’s something else
She’s her daddy’s girl
Her momma’s world
She deserves respect
That’s what she’ll get
Now ain’t it son?
Y’all go out and have some fun
I’ll see you when you get back
Probably be up all night
Still cleanin’ this gun

Now it’s all for show
Ain’t nobody gonna get hurt
It’s just a daddy thing
And hey, believe me, man it works

Come on in boy sit on down
And tell me about yourself
So you like my daughter do you now?
Yeah we think she’s something else
She’s her daddy’s girl
Her momma’s world
She deserves respect
That’s what she’ll get
Now ain’t it son?
Y’all run along and have a little fun
I’ll see you when you get back
Probably be up all night
Still cleanin’ this gun

Son, now y’all buckle up and have her back by te- let’s say about nine…thirty.
Drive safe.

Saturday Song Lyrics (Phil Vassar)

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

vassarhits.jpgI live in Iowa and the weather last weekend was warm and beautiful, but now we’re back down in the deep freeze. It’s only the middle of January, but I’m over this winter weather already. I need something to remind me of summer, warm weather, and fun outside in the sun. Since I love Phil Vassar, I thought I’d go with a little Six Pack Summer to cheer me up. I hope you’re staying warm and keep dreaming of that beach getaway!

Six Pack Summer by Phil Vassar

Winter sure was cold and miserable
Cooped up, shut down, baby it was pitiful
Anyhow, it’s over now
We owe to ourselves to have a little fun
The pace car’s pacin’ now the green flag’s wavin’

Uh, oh another six-pack summer comin’
Sing to me babe I’ll be your dashboard drummer and
Let’s turn the radio up as loud it can go
Got the ultra-ray wraparound sunglass vision
Got the sails up iced down a cool ambition
Just to relax and let the six-pack summer roll

We’ve got the sun block, a blanket and the best of Jimmy Buffet
T-bones for the grill, hey ain’t it great to rough it
The party’s on from dawn to dawn
24-7 ’til they pull the plug
No more waitin’ come on and kiss me baby

Uh, oh another six-pack summer comin’
Sing to me babe I’ll be your dashboard drummer and
Let’s turn the radio up as loud it can go
Got the ultra-ray wraparound sunglass vision
Got the sails up iced down a cool ambition
Just to relax and let the six-pack summer roll

Slow and steady, I’m so ready
Uh, oh another six-pack summer

Saturday Song Lyrics (Gary Allan)

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

allanalbum.jpgI have loved the song “Best I Ever Had” since I first heard it performed by the original artists Vertical Horizon back in 2000. I really connected with the lyrics and the song right away and loved it ever since. However, the first time I heard Gary Allan’s version on the radio, it really took my breath away. Fueled by the recent suicide of his wife, his haunting tone sent shivers down my spine. I love the song and the meaning behind it for both my own life and the pain Gary Allan poured into the song was just heartbreaking. So, enjoy the lyrics and how they really can reflect life.

Best I Ever Had by Gary Allan

So you sailed away, into a gray sky morning
Now I’m here to stay, love can be so boring
And nothing’s quite the same now
I just say your name now.

But it’s not so bad
You’re only the best I ever had
You don’t want me back
You’re just the best I ever had.

So you stole my world, now I’m just a phony
Remembering the girl leaves me down and lonely
Well send it in a letter
Make yourself feel better.

But it’s not so bad
You’re only the best I ever had
You don’t want me back
You’re just the best I ever had.

And it might take some time to patch me up inside
but I can’t take it so I, I run away and hide
And I might find in time that you were always right
You’re always right.

So you sailed away into a gray sky morning
Now, I’m here to stay, love can be so boring
Was it what you wanted?
Could it be I’m haunted?

But it’s not so bad
You’re only the best I ever had
You don’t want me back
You’re just the best I ever had.

You’re just the best I ever had

Saturday Song Lyrics (Cledus T. Judd)

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

cledus2.jpgSo I write quite an eclectic collection of blogs here at 451Press. I split my time bringing you the news at Watching VH1, NASCAR Talk Online, and of course, Country Music Herald. You may think that NOTHING could connect these blogs, but that is simply not true. Today, I’m bringing you the common denominator in the form of Saturday Song Lyrics. That’s right! The link between country music, NASCAR, and VH1 is none other than Cledus T. Judd. He’s obviously a country music parody artist, but he also appeared on the latest season of Celebrity Fit Club on VH1 and he sings the song “I Love NASCAR” (a parody of Toby Keith’s “I Love This Bar”).

I Love NASCAR by Cledus T. Judd

We got owners, favorite drivers,
Boy, that Tony Stewart’s a whiner.
An’ we got rookies, advertisers,
(Like, uh, let’s see: Havoline, Target, sharpie, Caterpiller, Nextel,
Mountain Dew, DuPont, Lowes, Home Depot, Kodak,
M&Ms, UPS, Tide, Alltel, Gillette, Kelloggs, Viagra, DeWalt, and uh Budweiser.)
But the trophy girls still have my favorite parts.
Vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, I love NASCAR.

We got cautions, we got pitstops,
You can’t hear a dang thing once the flag drops.
An’ poor Kyle Patty, an’ swervin’ Marlin, ha ha,
Are gonna find it tough to beat Mark Martin.
‘Cause that Viagra car is always driven hard.
Vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, I love NASCAR.

I love NASCAR, it’s my kind of race.
Just watchin’ Jeff Gordon plow up a wall,
Puts a smile on Dale Junior’s face.
No caviar. It’s it’s beer an Mopar.
Vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, I love NASCAR.

I like short tracks, you’ll see more wrecks,
An’ about a million screamin’ rednecks.
An’ ol’ Jeff Burton, ha, an’ poor Mike Skinner,
Well, they’ve done forgot what it’s like to be a winner.
An’ Ken Schrader still ain’t sure who his sponsors are.
Vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, I love NASCAR.

**”Hey, that was a close one up there boys.
**”Bout got into one there.”
**”I might pull over right up here next pitstop,
“I want you to get two right front tires”
“I need a wedge on the left side to keep this windshield playin’ on the gas.
“An’ you don’t care, hand me a pair of underwear, I have messed all in my drawers.”

I like football. (I like football.)
I like my wrestlin’.
I like a good game of air hockey,
I like some ping pong now an’ then.
How about you, Toby?

I love NASCAR, it’s my kind of race.
Just to see Big E back on the track,
Would put a smile on every face.
No-one drove a car quite like Earnhardt.
Vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, I love NASCAR.

Vroom, vroom, vroom: Gentlemen, start your engines:
I love NASCAR.
