Merry Christmas!

Monday, December 24th, 2007

Merry Christmas, country music fans!

I’m going to take a day or two off for the holidays and spend some time with my family. While I’m away, you can head on over to GAC’s Website and see their list of holiday gifts for country music fans in case, like me, you still have to finish your shopping (yes, I realize it’s Christmas Eve).

So enjoy your holiday and if you are traveling be safe!

Country Music Stars Invade Your TV

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

carriecmaarrival.jpgWith all of the holiday festivities happening, many country music stars are finding themselves being asked to perform make appearances on various television shows. Not only are they competing in reality TV shows, like Blake Shelton on “Clash of the Choirs” and Trace Adkins on “Celebrity Apprentice”, but they are singing, co-hosting, and even appearing in videos from the White House! Of course, you can catch all your favorite country music superstars at the 2008 CMT Awards, which was announced today that it will be broadcast on CMT on April 14, 2008.

Of course, you don’t have to wait that long to see some great performances. New Years Rockin’ Eve on ABC is getting a bit countrified this year. Taylor Swift was already announced as a performer from Hollywood on the live show, but now Carrie Underwood has also been tapped to give a performance live from Times Square in New York City. Miley Cyrus, also known as Hannah Montana and Billy Ray Cyrus’s daughter, will also be performing in the live telecast. There is no word yet what song she will be performing or if Billy Ray will join her on stage.

Other country music artists are keeping busy in other ways this holiday season. Sara Evans will be co-hosting the View. She made her first co-hosting appearance today on the show, and will also fill in for regular co-host Elisabeth Hasselback (who is on maternity leave) this Friday.

Alan Jackson has landed probably the most unlikely gig for a country artist. Alan makes a cameo appearance in President Bush’s dogs annual Holiday Video. Every year the Presidential Pooches film themselves on a Holiday adventure. This year, Barney and Miss Beazly dream about their life if they were Junior Park Rangers. Jackson has a conversation with the dogs about how they’ve “gone country”. You can see the whole video here.
