Sunday Music Clip (The Eagles)

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Such a big deal was made over The Eagles performing live for the very first time on any awards show at the 2007 CMA Awards, I just had to get the clip of their song for my collection here. Now their new album is dominating the charts and has already gone platinum. So here is The Eagles performing “How Long” live at the 2007 CMA awards.

Sunday Music Clip (Sugarland)

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

The industry is still raving over the following performance. Sugarland, who won the CMA award for Duo of the Year, performed their latest haunting hit “Stay” live on the CMA broadcast to a standing ovation. I know I get chills when I hear it, so I hope you enjoy it as well.

2007 CMA Awards Fashion Rehash–Nominees

Friday, November 9th, 2007

It certainly was country music’s biggest night this past Wednesday with the airing of the CMAs. Not only was there amazing live music all night long, the stars looked great (well, most of them anyway) and ruled the red carpet before the awards. We here at Country Music Herald are here to rehash the fashion and have lots of pictures from the night for you to peruse. Today, let’s take a look at some of the nominees and winners as they arrived. Enjoy the photos and leave your comments about what worked for you and what should be banned next time in the comments section below. There are more photos and commentary after the jump, and come back this weekend for even more fashion reviews of presenters, performers, and other artists who attended the ceremony.

Female Vocalist of the Year, Carrie Underwood, arrives at the CMA Awards looking absolutely stunning with perfect hair and makeup as always. Carrie rarely has an off night with her look, and of course the CMAs were no exception.

2007 CMA Winners

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

cma_logo.jpg

What a night of great music, bright stars, and very deserving winners! My picks from yesterday’s blog post weren’t too far off, really. There doesn’t seem to be any really big surprises this year, although not many people were picking Sugarland to take the Best Duo award over such stalwarts as Brooks & Dunn and Montgomery Gentry, but it was definitely a good choice considering what a huge year they’ve had on the radio and in album sales.

If you want to see who won in each category, keep reading after the jump. Also, come back this weekend to see some red carpet pictures of your favorite stars.

More CMA News

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

krauss.jpgWe’re down to only two weeks left to wait before the CMA awards air (Wednesday November 7, 2007 beginning at 8 pm ET on ABC) and the number of performers is seemingly growing every day. Even more acts were announced recently for the supposedly only 2 hour broadcast, but I can’t help but wonder how all of these artists are going to perform and all of the awards are going to be given out in that short amount of time. I just know I can’t wait to find out! It’s shaping up to be a great show.

The latest announced artists include Alison Krauss, Jason Aldean, and American Idol finalist Kelly Pickler. Both Pickler and Aldean are nominated for the Horizon Award, which is given to the year’s biggest up and coming country music star. There were also a few more award presenters announced. The newest presenters added to the list were Sheryl Crow, Gretchen Wilson, and Blake Shelton.

If you just can’t get enough CMA news and updates, you’re in luck. The show’s producers have promised even more announcements concerning the show and which stars will be attending, performing, presenting, and even hosting. So far, only Sara Evans and LeAnn Rimes have been confirmed hosts, but more will be added as the date of the ceremony nears.

Who would you like to see host the show? Let me know in the comments section below!

Also, don’t forget to register to win the amazing Brooks and Dunn prize package! Time is running out, so just click on the banner in the sidebar and register for free. Good luck!

More Acts Added to CMA Lineup

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

swift.jpgIt is almost time for the annual Country Music Association awards show. As the date of the awards show, Wednesday November 7th, nears, more and more great artists are being added to both the performances list and the expanding list of presenters at the awards show. Some great acts have already been announced like Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, and for the first time ever on a live awards show, The Eagles.

More names have now been released. Performances by Rodney Atkins, Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift, and a duet featuring Reba McEntire and LeAnn Rimes are now all slated to happen. They will join previously announced artists Keith Urban, Josh Turner, George Strait, Sugarland, Brooks & Dunn, and Martina McBride throughout the evening. Rascal Flatts will open the show with actor turned singer Jamie Foxx joining them for “She Goes All the Way” which they recorded for Rascal Flatts’ latest number one album “Still Feels Good”.

In addition to your favorite artists performing, many of country music’s hottest stars and other celebrities will be presenting awards on the live telecast. Some announced presenters include Luke Bryan, Jason Michael Carroll, Bucky Covington, Nashville Star host Jewel, Celebrity Bull Riding host Ty Murray, Kid Rock, Montgomery Gentry, and Dwight Yoakam.

This year will also be the first year that several artists will share the hosting duties. Sara Evans and LeAnn Rimes will be among the rotating hosts. Brooks & Dunn declined to keep their hosting duties this year going and instead opted to have a good time just watching the proceedings.

Speaking of Brooks & Dunn, there is still time to register to win that fabulous Brooks & Dunn prize package from our good friends over at the Brooks & Dunn official website! Just click on the banner in the sidebar to submit your name to win. Good luck!

CMA Performers Announced

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

eagles.jpgThis year’s CMA Awards ceremony is shaping up to be full of great live performances. The show will be broadcast on Wednesday November 7th on ABC. Previously announced artists slated to perform include Brad Paisley (who leads the pack with 5 nominations this year), Sugarland, Josh Turner, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Martina McBride, Kenny Chesney, George Strait, and the show’s hosts Brooks & Dunn.

Another huge announcement was made today about the CMA live performances. The Eagles, who have never performed live on an awards show, will reunite to play a song at the CMAs. Their current single “How Long” was released to country radio and has been well received by fans. While The Eagles have never performed live at the CMAs, they have had some previous success with the awards:

In 1993, Eagles drummer Don Henley was nominated for CMA Vocal Event of the Year with Trisha Yearwood for “Walkaway Joe,” which the two performed together during the 1992 CMA Awards. In 1994, Common Thread: The Songs of The Eagles won CMA Album of the Year. The project featured top Country artists performing Eagles’ hits including Clint Black, Brooks & Dunn, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, and Yearwood.

See all of these great artists on “Country Music’s Biggest Night” starting at 8:00 PM ET on Wednesday November 7th.
