adkinsalbum.jpgAlan Jackson’s temporary reign at the top of both the Country Music Singles and Country Music Album charts has come to an end on both fronts. Trace Adkins, the Celebrity Apprentice runner up managed to sneak into the top spot on the Country Music Singles Charts with “You’re Gonna Miss This”. Alan Jackson was also passed yet again by that unstoppable teenager Taylor Swift on the Country Music Album Charts who took over the number one spot yet again. Her latest single “Picture to Burn” is also climbing the Country Music Singles charts, but she’s going to have to overcome some stiff competition in George Strait to make it to the top with that one.

Country Music Charts, Week Ending 3/29/08

Monday, March 31st, 2008

swiftalbum.jpgWell, despite what Donald Trump had to say on the finale of Celebrity Apprentice, Trace Adkins does NOT have the number one single on the country charts with “You’re Gonna Miss This”. However, he is in second place, but he just couldn’t knock off Alan Jackson this week. Both of them better watch their backs, though, because teen phenom Taylor Swift is heating up the charts with “Picture to Burn”. In fact, she’s so hot, she took back over the top spot on the albums charts and Alan Jackson fell into second.

Taylor is getting a lot of airplay on the pop stations now. I just hear “Our Song” on my local pop station, so she’s got the crossover appeal going for her. She’s rivaling Miley Cyrus right now for hot teen queen and will even be getting her own dolls on the market this fall. That’s one busy young lady!

jacksonalbum.jpgAlan Jackson may be a Small Town Southern Man, but he’s living the big life this week. Jackson not only has the number one album in country music, he also holds down the top spot on the country music singles charts, passing up Carrie Underwood. There are lots of great artists on his tail though, including George Strait and Trace Adkins, so he’d better be ready to give up the title. As for the album side of things, he will most likely stay at the top for awhile longer since there hasn’t been any huge new releases in a long time (besides his, of course).

carriealbum.jpgFinally! We’re getting some movement in the country music charts this week. We’ve got some new singles entering the top ten including George Strait with “I Saw God Today”. Carrie Underwood stayed at the top of the singles charts this week with her 6th number one single “All American Girl”. Alan Jackson is having a stellar week with his “Small Town Southern Man” hitting number two and his brand new album “Good Time” debuting in the number one spot on the albums chart. Dolly Parton with her “Backwoods Barbie” also managed to crack the top ten albums this week.

cagle.jpgIt sure is a good week to be Chris Cagle. Not only did his newest hit “What Kinda Gone” enter the top ten country music singles for the first time, he was able to knock Taylor Swift out of the top spot on the country music albums charts with his new release “My Life’s Been a Country Song”. It’s good to see him come back after such a rough time with his vocal cord problems and recover with great new music.

Rodney Atkins kept his number one spot on the singles chart this week with “Cleaning This Gun” and Kenny Chesney and George Strait’s duet “Shiftwork” climbed its way up to number two this week and is knocking on the door to that top spot. Trace Adkins also made an appearance for the first time this week in the top ten with his latest single “You’re Gonna Miss This”.

Country Music Charts, Week Ending 2/23/08

Monday, February 25th, 2008

atkinsalbum.jpgIt looks like we’ve got a new number one this week. Well, at least on the singles side of things. Rodney Atkins took the top spot away from his touring partner Brad Paisley this week with his anthem to all fathers with little girls out there “Cleaning This Gun”. Brad’s “Letter to Me” fell to third behind Gary Allan and “Watching Airplanes”.

The top ten albums didn’t change this week, they’re just in a different order. There are still several artists enjoying their “Grammy bump” up the charts (like Carrie Underwood with BOTH of her albums in the top ten), but they couldn’t bring down Taylor Swift. That girl looks to be invincible on the charts right now!

carriegrammy.jpgY - A - W - N………Oh, sorry about that. I was just sitting here posting this week’s top ten country music singles and top ten country music albums when I about fell asleep from the sheer boredom of no change in either chart this week. Okay, so that is a bit of an exaggeration because a couple of the top ten singles switched spots, and Carrie Underwood’s debut album “Some Hearts” reappeared at number 8 on the album charts, but really is that a surprise? After Carrie’s win at the Grammys and her skimpy outfit during her “Before He Cheats” performance, you knew people would go out to buy the album that song was on.

Anyway, if you’ve forgotten what the charts looked like last week or just want to read them again this week, you can catch both top ten singles and top ten albums charts after the jump. Just don’t operate heavy machinery while you’re reading.

Country Music Charts, Week Ending 2/9/08

Monday, February 11th, 2008

paisleyalbum.jpgThe tops of both the country music single and country music album charts look pretty much like they did last week. Brad Paisley was able to stay at the top of the singles chart with his song “Letter to Me” and Taylor Swift’s self-titled debut album just won’t be knocked off of its perch at number one that she’s held for the past few weeks.

However, the bottom of the singles chart got quite a few new infusions from some heavy hitters like Carrie Underwood with “All American Girl” and Craig Morgan riding his “International Harvester”. You can never count out Alan Jackson, either, and he just jumped into the top ten with his latest single “Small Town Southern Man”.

paisleycma.jpgBrad Paisley hangs strong this week in the number one position on the Top Ten Country Music Singles chart with his latest hit “Letter to Me”. There wasn’t much movement at all on the singles charts, except Sugarland and their song “Stay” continued to plummet down the charts landing at number ten this week.

On the albums charts this week, Taylor Swift was still the one to beat with her self titled debut album staying at number one. There wasn’t much movement in that chart, either, except for the entry of Chuck Wicks at number 7 with his new album “Starting Now”. I’m sure his album will continue to climb the charts since there hasn’t been many new albums in a long while and his single “Stealing Cinderella” continues to get heavy airplay on country music radio stations.

paisley.jpgWhile the albums side of the country music charts didn’t change much this week, the top songs on the country music singles charts got a good shaking up. Taylor Swift was able to hang on to the top of the albums charts and really there wasn’t much movement beyond the addition of Anne Murray’s duets album entering the top ten this week.

The country music singles chart was much more exciting this week, and we have a brand new number one single. Brad Paisley’s “Letter to Me” managed to jump from number 5 to number 1. Taylor Swift’s former number 1, “Our Song” fell all the way to number 5 and Sugarland’s “Stay” also took a tumble from number 2 to number 4. Rascal Flatts and Montgomery Gentry both moved up. The bottom half of the singles charts saw no movement from last week.

swift.jpgIt was yet another doubly great week for Taylor Swift as she topped both the singles charts with “Our Song” and the albums charts with her self titled debut that has been on the charts for more than a year. What more could an 18 year old girl ask for?

There really wasn’t much change from last week’s charts on either side, but a couple of new songs did enter the singles top ten charts. Rodney Atkins entered into the top ten with “Cleanin’ This Gun” and Kenny Chesney’s duet with George Strait “Shiftwork” also made a big jump up the charts to land at number 9.

Monday, January 14th, 2008

swiftcmaarrival.jpgTaylor Swift is on fire! She not only held strong with her number one single “Our Song” this week on the country music singles charts, she also managed to top the country music album charts with her self-titled debut album that has been on the charts for 63 weeks now. That’s quite a feat! It is no doubt spurred by her number one country single and the fact that “Teardrops on My Guitar” is getting a lot of airplay and is charting on the pop singles and adult contemporary charts. The teenage phenom is poised for greatness.

Meanwhile, Brad Paisley is quickly climbing the singles charts with “Letter to Me” and Garth Brooks and his “Ultimate Hits” album is just behind Taylor Swift on the album charts. Next week is a new week, so you never know where the singles and albums will line up.

Monday, January 7th, 2008

swift.jpgWelcome to the first country music charts of the new year! So far, there hasn’t been much change from 2007, but it’s only been a week, right? Anyway, teenaged phenom Taylor Swift holds tight to the number one spot on the singles charts with “Our Song”. There wasn’t much movement at all on the singles charts except a few minor place changes at the tail end of the top ten.

Over at the albums charts, the Eagles seem to be unbeatable and Garth Brooks is breathing down their necks for the top spot. Speaking of Garth Brooks, he will be a part of a press conference from Daytona International Speedway tomorrow. I’ll let you know what the big announcement is after it’s made.

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

swiftalbum.jpgSince the week started off with a holiday, I haven’t gotten around to posting last week’s top ten country music singles and top ten country music albums yet, so I thought I would get them up for you today.

On the singles side, Taylor Swift holds strong at #1 with “Our Song” and Sugarland’s anthem for the “other woman” takes the #2 spot. Montgomery Gentry are also climbing to the top, while Carrie Underwood has fallen completely off the top ten list just two short weeks after she was number one.

Albums stayed pretty much the same this week. The Eagles remained unbeatable with “Long Road Out of Eden” and since there have really been no new releases for a few weeks, that doesn’t look to change much over the coming weeks.

Country Music Charts, Week Ending 12/15/07

Monday, December 17th, 2007

swiftalbum.jpgNOW we’re talking! There was plenty of movement this week in the charts, or at least the country music top ten singles charts. It was a huge shake up week for former number one stronghold Carrie Underwood with “So Small”. She plummeted down the charts all the way from number one to number 10. Meanwhile, teenage phenom Taylor Swift rocketed to the top spot this week with her current hit “Our Song”.

However, over on the country music album charts, things stayed pretty much the same as last week. That’s not a really big surprise, though, since there haven’t been many new album releases in the past couple of weeks that would jump onto the top ten country music albums list. The Eagles continued to dominate the albums charts and don’t look to be giving up the top spot any time soon.

If you want to see both the top ten country music singles and top ten country music albums charts, keep reading after the jump.
