Blake Shelton’s Choir Comes in Third

by

blakechoir.jpgDid you catch all the episodes of Clash of the Choirs this week? Blake Shelton was able to lead his choir all the way to the finale and ended up placing third in the competition. Nick Lachey’s choir took home the top prize, and Patti LaBelle’s team became the runner up in the week long battle.

Considering Blake doesn’t read music and he doesn’t have really any experience with choirs, let alone leading them, it was a great job. His choir was put together from auditions given by citizens of his hometown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They only had three short weeks to come together and perform in front of a live audience and an average of 8 million home viewers per night.

Blake’s choir performed a lot of great country songs including Little Big Town’s “Boondocks”, “Life is a Highway” by Chris Ledoux and most recently from the “Cars” soundtrack by Rascal Flatts, and the choir backed Blake as he sang “This Can’t Be Good” from his latest CD “Pure BS”. Perhaps their most creative and fun performance, though, was a great mash up of “Joy to the World” by Three Dog Night and the traditional Christmas carol of the same name. I’m still looking for a clip of that performance and if I can find one, I’ll post it as the Sunday Music Clip.

What did you think of “Clash of the Choirs” and Blake’s group? Did you watch and more importantly did you vote? Let me know in the comments section below.
