Blake Shelton: Choir Director?
Well, that pesky writer’s strike is still going strong. That is not very good news, but if it keeps up, then we’re going to continue seeing our favorite country music stars compete in various reality show competitions and that could be really fun. I’ve already told you all about Trace Adkins and his desire to become Donald Trump’s newest Apprentice (all for charity, of course), but now another country music star is hitting the reality show stage.
Blake Shelton is no stranger to the genre that is reality television. Blake spent time behind the judges’ table last season for Nashville Star, so not only does he know reality shows, he knows great singers when he hears them (although I did question his hearing at some points during last season’s Nashville Star, but I digress). Now he gets to put both of those talents to good use for NBC’s latest reality television offering “Clash of the Choirs”. The premise of the show is to take five music artists from various genres and have them travel back to their hometowns and form a choir. They will then direct and coach those choirs and it will all come to a head in a competition between the choirs to see whose is the best.
Joining Blake in this competition will be Nick Lachey, Michael Bolton, Patti LaBelle, and Kelly Rowland. The four night competition begins on Monday December 17th at 8 pm ET/7 pm CT. There are some sneak peeks at the choirs over at NBC.com, as well as some interactive games for you to gear up for the big competition.
As for Blake, he is heard in the promos saying he had never really wanted to direct a choir, but you can tell the jokester really enjoys interacting with the singers.
To tide you over until the show airs, check out this clip of Blake choosing his choir:
